Ellovi Butter Review
Ellovi was kind enough to send me a full bottle of their new product, Butter, to review. The timing was fantastic – the winter air has made the skin on my knuckles and the back of my hands dry and scaly, and ain’t nobody got time for that!
Butter is Ellovi’s raw body butter made from only six natural ingredients. Butter has no added water, parabens or preservatives, and is cruelty-free. I’ve been putting a lot of effort into switching over to all-natural, vegan beauty products so this was music to my ears.
Your skin is your biggest organ; what you put on your body is every bit as important as what you put in your body. Most commercial beauty products are chock full of harmful chemicals and additives, which is why I’ve spent the last couple years slowly replacing my old products with natural ones. Beauty products are loosely regulated and oftentimes allowed to disguise or flat-out omit many ingredients from their labels.
So, what’s in Ellovi’s Butter? It’s all in this simple, pretty graphic:
As you can see, not only are the ingredients in Ellovi all natural, they are ingredients that you could literally eat. As I said above, if you wouldn’t consume it, you probably shouldn’t wear it (with the exception of some essential oils that are too strong for internal use). Butter passes this test with flying colors.

So, what do I think of Ellovi Raw Body Butter?
I would most closely compare the consistency of Butter to coconut oil. Depending on what kind of moisturizer you are used to, this could be a good or bad thing. Butter is not a lotion. It’s…well…a butter. It’s very rich, a little goes a long way.
After using Butter for a few days, I’ve decided that I’m in love with it. I especially like it for massaging into my dry winter knuckles and my cuticles. I find that it works a lot better if you really rub it in. It sinks into your skin, leaving it soft and supple. I prefer it for my hands, elbows and the backs of my arms. One surprising use I found for it was on my tattoos! I love massaging my tattoos with Butter to give them a deep sheen, making them pitch black and gorgeous.
Ellovi Butter has a subtle, nutty scent, which I enjoy on its own. I recently mixed it with some lemon essential oil to help cure me from an unintended hangover, and I was pleased to find that the essential oil blended with the Butter beautifully. I’ve also enjoyed mixing it with lavendar oil and rubbing into my hands before bed, for a soothing way to do a deep treatment on my scaly claws (thanks to The Vegenista for the suggestion in her Ellovi Butter Review).
Ellovi’s Butter is a great product. It is pricey, at $26 per bottle, but it’s made of the highest quality ingredients, cruelty-free, and will last you a long time (the picture of above was taken after two weeks of frequent use – you can see I’ve barely made a dent). I highly recommend it to those who care about what they put on their skin. I also think Butter would make a fantastic gift for the discerning beauty product junkie in your life.
