“The whole holiday is based on overeating, we should be wearing velour track suits and diapers.” Jake Peralta, Brooklyn Nine-Nine
This was my lovely vegan Thanksgiving dinner from Native Foods, where I went with a bunch of my vegan buddies. One of my friends’ family wanted to join us and I was so happy that we had three omnivores not eating animal products on this most indulgent of all holidays. It was a great day in Southern California: 80 degrees, sunny and there was a good vibe in the air.
I am full of gratitude this year, I feel like it has been a wonderful and strange year of growth for me.
My heart goes out to anyone who had to be exposed to cruelty on their families’ dinner tables, or had to feel like an outsider. I have no easy answers but I hope that you all feel a sense of pride for being strong and living by your convictions. There is no greater good you can do in the world than doing the right thing, especially when it’s the hard thing.
I am very grateful to anyone who reads this blog. It is a total passion project for me and I hope all the words I put out into the universe make some kind of difference to somebody. I dream of the day I can do this for a living, but for right now it’s not making me any money, it’s something I do purely for the joy of doing it. I want you to know it means the world to me that you take the time to visit me and I hope to keep your interest throughout the coming years.
Love you guys! I hope you find indulgence, peace and restoration on this day!
