Most people are not aware that no matter whether an animal is raised grass fed, organic, free range, etc. most (99% of all animals commercially processed in the U.S.) are still sent to the exact same slaughterhouses that standard factory farm raised animals are. The majority of beef sold comes from one of only 13 slaughterhouses. Whether grass fed or raised in a standard feedlot, their deaths are exactly the same.
I keep hearing the term “humane slaughter” come up in conversation by people who are confusing the way an animal lives with the way it dies. Another symptom of incredibly effective marketing from the beef, pork and poultry industries, combined with people’s natural instinct to want to feel good about what they’re eating.
